Flooding

Flooding causes an excess of moisture that can result in damage to the structure, swelling of the plaster, mould and bacteria growth, damage to archives, books, furniture, bad odours.

There are several possible causes of flooding:

• Water leaks from pipes
• Overflowing drains
• River overflow or flooding
• Rising aquifer levels

Flooding at a production site can damage equipment, stored products, electrical systems and computer systems. Air with high moisture content is also harmful for breathing, it can cause allergies and asthma from bacteria. The use of a FRAL dehumidifier may bring air humidity in an indoor environment to optimal values that favour drying wet objects, walls, floors, making these recover faster, and resulting in substantial cost savings.

To facilitate dehumidification:

• Close any openings, the room must be closed and without air change.
• Create adequate air movement possibly by adding fans.
• If possible, warm up the room during the winter period, the temperature increase makes the dehumidifier more efficient.
